Adam Had Four Sons DVD |

|
Bergman - in her second American film - gives a warm, touching performance as Emilie Gallatin, a governess who has been hired as a nanny by the wealthy Adam and Molly Stoppard. When Molly passes away, Adam and the four sons begin to depend on Emilie in deeper ways than they had originally intended. As the boys mature and no longer need Emilie's support, Adam insists that she remain in their home as an important member of their family. She leaves, due to reasons of economics, and discovers trouble upon her return, in the form of a daughter-in-law to-be, Hester, who is obviously nothing more than a heartless gold-digger.
